WHY WOODS

WHY WOODS CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER?

WONDER

“Why” “What will happen” “What do you think” “How does that work” these are some of the questions that you will hear both the children and the teachers pose as together we experience the wonder that is our world.

WISDOM

Woods CDC is accredited by the Maryland State Dept. of Education which means our children are supported in all aspects of their early childhood education. Our curriculum combines play based learning with kindergarten readiness skills.  Children learn letter and sound recognition as well as counting and logic skills.  Science and social studies are explored all presented in such a way that children can’t wait to learn!

WORLD

The children at Woods CDC learn about the world by visiting our local library, bookstore, and farm stand. All of which are within walking distance of our school. Every Thursday, children watch as our Rehabers (retired church members) help repair and improve our facility. They help collect for those in need through partnerships with our Missions ministry.

WHIMSICAL

Woods CDC understands the work of children is play. We provide many opportunities for the children to learn through play.  Every classroom has multiple learning centers including free art, dramatic play, home living, building, nature, science, writing, math, manipulatives, reading, music, and sensory.

WORTHY

Woods CDC has been serving the children of Severna Park and the surrounding towns since 1954. Some current Woods’ parents even attended themselves and had the same teacher!  Our own parents serve on our volunteer Board of Directors. As a not for profit all of our profits are cycled back into our programs. As an independent organization, we have the flexibility to work interactively with our children and their families.
